This year will mark 50 years since Guyana first triumphed in athletics at the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG).
Rivalry in athletics between Suriname and Guyana at the IGG started at the inaugural event in Paramaribo in 1967. It took six years, in November 1973, for Guyana to conquer Suriname in athletics. The venue was the Transport and Harbours Ground on Thomas Lands, where the hosts defeated the Surinamese 110-98 in a keenly contested athletics championship. Below features the complete list of results.
