Twelve-year-old Zaleena Boyer died on Wednesday at the Mabaruma Hospital after she was stung by a scorpion while on her way to school.
Boyer of Wauna, Mabaruma, Region 1, had told a resident that she was stung by the scorpion that was in her shoe. The resident subsequently took her to the health centre from where she was later transferred to the Mabaruma Hospital. Boyer succumbed at the hospital while receiving treatment. Regional Democratic Council Chairman, Brentnol Ashley, told Stabroek News that the region is awaiting further details surrounding the incident.
