Play in the Limacol Schools Football League continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, with Bartica squeaking past Santa Rosa 1-0.
Santa Rosa was a shadow of their team, which played in the Digicel Schools Championship, with Bartica being the better team by some distance. However, neither side could seize an advantage in the first half with lacklustre performances from the midfielders and strikers. In its entirety, it was subpar football from both sides.
However, Bartica forged ahead in the second half with a tame shot inside the box, with the Santa Rosa custodian watching the ball roll into the net. The goal in the 51st minute came courtesy of Reizer Reid and would be the only conversion of the encounter, as Bartica maintained their marginal advantage into the eventual fulltime whistle.
With the result, Bartica climbs onto 12 points and remains in second place, while Santa Rosa remains in fourth place on seven points. The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
