Immolation ruled as cause of Nirvana Algu’s death

A post-mortem examination performed on Nirvana Algu, 45, has ruled that her death was due to immolation. The autopsy was performed by Government pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, after the body was identified by Algu’s cousin, Sandya Persaud.

The torched car

The charred remains of Algu, 45, of Bel Air,  were discovered in a torched car at Swan Village, Linden-Soesdyke Highway on November 12th.

According to an earlier Stabroek News report, a police source said that Algu was last seen in her car alone along the East Bank Demerara at the Soesdyke junction. The car was registered in Algu’s name.  DNA samples had been taken for testing.
