The body of a 38-year-old mother of Mahaica was discovered yesterday with a knife stuck in her neck.
Chooromanie Tulsie, an accountant of Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was found dead yesterday morning at the bottom flat of her house.
Investigations revealed that the incident occurred sometime between 19.30 hours on November 21, and 08.00 hours the next day.
At around, 08.00 hours, Tulsie was found dead in the lower flat of her house. She was lying on the ground with a piece of cloth stuffed inside her mouth and a knife stuck in the centre of her throat. She was clad in a multi-coloured night dress.
The body was later escorted to the Nabaclis Hospital where Tulsie was officially pronounced dead after which it was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to await a post mortem examination.
Investigators canvassed the area for CCTV cameras and several persons were interviewed during the ongoing investigation.
According to the dead woman’s sister, it is believed that the perpetrator might have been known to the woman as nothing was stolen
“She and her son [the five-year-old] live in the house. She was downstairs, and when we came he was upstairs. … I think someone had the intention because they didn’t go with her car and the car key was right beside her, her expensive phone, you know, she had valuables they could have taken but everything is still there. We don’t know where her bag is, she has a lot of things in her bag but not to the value of other things that were around. So, that’s why I think it’s something that was premeditated and she knew who it was. I don’t know, I’m just speculating”, a sister of the deceased told Stabroek News.
With what has transpired, the sister is adamant that her sibling was murdered and wants to see justice served.
“She was murdered, we would like justice for her. We would like the police to use their capacity to find the person who did this to her and let them put ‘him’ in front of the court and let the law deal with it as early as possible, and I’m happy that the police would have gotten a fingerprint from the knife and as a family we can move forward and see justice. My sister lost her life innocently, and we would like the perpetrator placed in front of the court and let the law deal with him”, the sister said.
She described her as an honest and devoted mother.
“She was such a humble, intelligent, you know she was just a loving and caring person, a devoted mother to her child. Who would want to snatch her innocent life away from her and leave this child without a mother?”, her sibling asked.
Tulsie’s sister is also calling on the public to help find the killer of her sister by bringing forth any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
