The inaugural ‘One Guyana’ Basketball Premier League continues on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, with three group matches from 17:00hrs.
In the opening fixture, Meadowbrook Nets will face off against Leonora Rising Stars, while the second encounter will pit the Black Caimans from North Ruimveldt against South Ruimveldt’s Mambas at 19:00hrs. The final match of the evening will witness the Stabroek Eagles battling the University of Guyana Trojans from 21:00hrs. The event, which is administered by the Guyana Basketball Federation and forms part of the National Sports Academy, features 14 teams divided into two zones, which are the Harpy Eagles and Jaguars Conferences, respectively.
A minimum of 56 fixtures and a maximum of 63 matches are projected for the competition, which concludes in March 2024. The winner of the tournament, which will be played every Saturday at the National Gymnasium, will pocket $1,000,000, while the loser will receive $500,000.
