Power-lifting standout Carlos Peterson-Griffith will become the first Guyanese to be outfitted with official SBD apparel customised with the nation’s colours.

The announcement was made recently at Space Gym as a film crew from SBD apparel, the market leader in supports, clothing, and accessories for strength and fitness, filmed the behemoth in action.

Petterson-Grifith, who has officially become a brand ambassador for the company based in the United Kingdom, is one of just 24 athletes from around the world that have been invited to compete at Sheffield 24.

SBD’s Justin Nutt and Zalim Farooqui arrived in Guyana recently from the USA to film Peterson-Griffith as part of the ‘Road to Sheffield’ documentary.

“We also came to shoot some content to promote Carlos as he gears up to compete in Sheffield”, said content editor Farooqui yesterday.

The Sheffield 2024 Power-lifting Championships will showcase the stars of the sport in a high-profile event with the largest prize fund in powerlifting history.

Twelve males and 12 females will chalk it up and battle it out for world records and the title of Champion of Champions on February 10, 2024, at Sheffield’s historic city hall, minutes from SBD’s headquarters and manufacturing base. Peterson-Griffith qualified for the event and caught the eyes of the scouts of SBD after competing with distinction at the IPF Classic Worlds in June, after which the selected few received invitations to Sheffield for an opportunity to compete with the world’s best for lucrative cash prizes.

In total, there will be £445,000 up for grabs, with a mammoth £25,000 going to the first-place finishers. Petterson-Grifith, who will be aiming to be among the earners, will be donning his singlet with the Golden Arrowhead at the front and centre.
