Meadow Brook dominos club shut down

Police inside the club during the exercise

On Thursday evening, between 18:30 and 19:34hrs, a joint exercise was carried out by ranks of the Guyana Police Force, officers of the Customs Enforcement Department and Officers of the Environmental Protection Agency.

This exercise was headed by Officer in Charge of the #2 Sub-division, Deputy Superintendent R. Das, a release from the police said.

The team visited the R&R Dominos Club in Cayuni Drive Meadow Brook, where the proprietor was told of the issues of noise nuisance, traffic encumbrance, and illegal activities by patrons, the release said.

While at the establishment, the proprietor was also asked to produce the requisite licences to operate the Dominoes Club and he was unable to produce same, as he never applied for a licence.

As a result, the Customs Enforcement officers and the officers of the Environmental Protection Agency issued the proprietor with a ‘Prohibition Order’ not to sell, play or operate any instruments since his establishment does not have the necessary sound-proofing done on the building nor is he licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.

The proprietor of the club was ordered to cease operation until he acquired the requisite licences to operate.
