Miss Coverden Joel Perry won the Miss East Bank pageant, besting 11 other young women, who represented their villages with pride.
Purposeful and driven were the words Perry used to describe herself as she told this publication that her success was not without its challenges and one that took sacrifice and long nights. Nevertheless, she said, “I have learned a lot about myself. There were some late nights and long rehearsals all of which I am thankful for.”
Perry said that it was an honour to have represented her community.
Pageantry is known for connecting young women from all walks of life and the Miss East Bank pageant was no different as it brought together talents with a common goal. Perry described the experience thus: “This pageant has introduced me to young women who are beautiful and passionate about change. I learnt a lot about myself and my pageant sisters.”
The Miss East Bank pageant was not only about showcasing beauty and talent but also provided a space for young women to showcase their villages and provide avenues for the youths within their respective areas to attain higher heights.
Perry stated that she has already started pursuing a venture to empower the youths in her area. As someone who is big on education and youth empowerment she chose to take the route of empowering teens through the door of education by having a Spelling Bee Competition, which will begin in both the primary and secondary Coverden community schools with hopes that the programme evolves into something bigger.
Meanwhile, the second and third places went to Miss Diamond/Grove Lisa Hassan and Miss Ideal Demetreia Blair.
