Loris Nathoo sits atop the standings after the conclusion of round five of the Gaico National Open Chess Championship, which commenced on Tuesday at the Resource Centre in Woolford Avenue.
This is according to an official release from the Guyana Chess Federation. According to the correspondence, Nathoo leads the standings with four points, following a defeat of Candidate Master (CM) Taffin Khan in round five. He also defeated Gilbert Williams and Ethan Lee while playing to their respective stalemates against Jaden Taylor and Sachin Pitamber.
Meanwhile, CM Khan sits in second place on 3.5 points, while Justino DaSilva and Keron Sandiford follow on 3 points. The trio of Saeed Ali, Sachin Pitamber, and Jaden Taylor are on 2.5 points, with Ethan Lee and Gilbert Williams on 1.5 points apiece. Rolex Alexander is yet to score.
