(Trinidad Express) A La Horquetta man was killed and his brother critically injured when gunmen attacked them at their home on Sunday night.
Brent Seunarinesingh, 26, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and his brother, Brandon Seunarinesingh, 33, underwent emergency surgery.
Brent was shot in the right hip/ thigh area, and right buttock, while his brother was shot in his face.
The shooting occurred at their home at Phase Seven at around 11.30 p.m. when the brothers were sitting in their gallery.
Police were told that two men approached them and fired at them at close range.
The shooters then jumped into a silver Nissan Tiida and sped off in a northerly direction.
The brothers in their attempt to escape the gunmen fled towards the road where residents found them on the ground.
A neighbour placed them in his Nissan B15 and took them to the Arima Hospital.
However, Brent was pronounced dead while being treated at 12.12 a.m.
Brandon was transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for further medical attention.
Detectives of the Homicide Bureau of Region Two and the SERU who processed the scene retrieved 18 spent 5.56 shells and 22 spent nine-millimetre shells.
