The 19th edition of the Diamond Mineral Water Hockey Festival is confirmed for November 30 with the official launch taking place tomorrow. According to a source within the Guyana Hockey Board, there will be only two overseas teams headed to Guyana for this year’s festival, a drop in numbers from previous years.
The launch is slated to take place at the Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda at 11 am. The usual suspects Old Fort, Hikers, Saints, and the GCC clubs are all sure to take part with the categories being Veterans, Men and Women’s respectively.
Last year, Trinidad’s Queens Park Men were victorious in the men’s final, beating the Hikers while their female counterparts, George United downed GBTI GCC in that category final. However, the Old Fort veterans prevented the overseas contingent from making a clean sweep with a win in their category.
The matches will be played at the National Gymnasium with the finals penciled for Sunday (December 3)
