The Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) staged its electoral congress on Sunday via the electronic platform Zoom, with incumbent Anand Raghunauth being re-elected unopposed and five committee members being added to the governance structure.
This was confirmed by an official release from the entity. According to the correspondence, the new body, which will serve for a period of two years, comprises: Vice President Irshad Mohamad, Company Secretary Marcia Lee, Directors Loris Nathoo, Davion Mars, Shiv Nandalall, and Yolander Sammy. The new committee members are: Sabine McIntosh, Jaishree Lam, Sheriffa Ali, Gilbert Williams, and John Lee.
Tanya Warren-Clement served as the returning officer.
According to the release, “These individuals have all served on sub-committees in the previous leadership except for Mr. Williams, a long-time chess player and Federation member. Members of the various committees will be appointed during the coming weeks to complete the organisational structure of the Federation.”
