Bevon Stephon Griffith of Lot 12 Dennis Street, Sophia, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court yesterday where he was charged with murder.
It was alleged that on Saturday, November 18, while at Old Road, Eccles, East Bank Demerara, Griffith murdered Trion Parks. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
On November 18, Juneann Kirton, (Parks’ mother), told Stabroek News that her son died from shock and haemorrhaging.
Kirton related that on the day of the shooting, the family was celebrating her niece’s baby’s birthday and after the party around 22.10 hours, she was startled by a loud noise. She initially thought it was the sound of squibs, but later found out that it was a gunshot.
“I saw my son’s car parked in front of the gate and a guy in a hoodie at the side of my son’s car shooting at my son.”
She also disclosed that the hooded man shot at her before escaping.
The matter has been adjourned to January 29, 2024 for disclosure.
