The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) has partnered with Sawh Voltcom Construction Inc. (SVC) and Precision Service Centre Inc. (PSC) to pull off their Inter Association Senior T20 Blast, which will bowl off next Saturday (December 9) at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground in Bourda.
The tournament, which fetches a purse of two million dollars, will be played on a round-robin basis and will involve all five associations of the Demerara Cricket Board. Those associations will field teams such as the Georgetown Panthers, East Coast Canje Pheasants, East Bank Eagles, Upper Demerara Scorpions, and West Demerara Jaguars.
The team with the most points after the preliminary rounds will play the fourth-placed side, while the second and third-placed teams will clash in the semi-finals, with the respective winners moving on to battle in the final.
Preceding the final will be a third-place playoff between the two losing semi-finalists. The semi-finals and final day events will be live streamed. All the teams will be attired in coloured clothing, with cash incentives, trophies, and medals up for grabs.
As part of tournament regulations and with an eye on youth development, each association will be required to select two under-19 players who will be eligible to represent Guyana next year in regional under-19 tournaments.
At least one of those players will be required to play in every game. Players must represent the area they reside in, with the exception of Upper Demerara, which will allow guest players drawn from the standby pool of the other associations. The opening match in the event will commence at 9:00am, while the second match will occur at 1:00pm.
