Chase Academy was crowned the Limacol Secondary Schools U18 Football League champion, defeating Santa Rosa 5-0 in their final fixture yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Needing only a draw to retain the championship, Chase Academy stormed to victory, as Omar Sam led the rout with a brace in the 28th and 46th minutes, while Neeiaz Baksh, Bryan Wharton, and Manasseh Primo netted in the 31st, 54th, and 70th minutes, respectively.

With the result, Chase Academy ended the event on 19 points, following a record of six wins and a draw, while their opponent ended in fifth place on 10 points.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie High defeated Wismar/Christianburg 7-0 in the ‘Linden Derby’. An own goal in the 10th minute opened the scoring, while Deon Peters, Azizi Grant, Azaineo Benjamin, Aaron Murray, Malik McLean, and Joshua Flemings scored in the 12th, 23rd, 40th, 45th, 58th, and 62nd minutes apiece.

Also, Anns Grove overcame Bartica 2-1. Naron Jerrick and Marcus Cole found the back of the net in the 25th and 60th minutes, respectively. On target in the loss was Arvel Singh in the 30th minute.

On the individual side of the presentation, Wharton copped the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade and the Highest Goal Scorer award with seven conversions. The best goalkeeper was adjudged to be Carmel’s Ray Richards.
