Bachelor’s Adventure man gets four years for dangerous driving death

Chris Sampson, a 24-year-old labourer of Lot 129 Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara was yesterday jailed for four years after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

The police in a statement said he was charged yesterday by a rank from the Sparendaam Police Station’s Traffic Department. When he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court # 1 before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool, the following charges were read to him:

1. Causing Death by Dangerous Driving (to which he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years imprisonment.)

2. Driving an uninsured motor vehicle: (to which he pleaded guilty and for which he was reprimanded and discharged)

3. Breach of Condition of Provisional Licence (to which he pleaded not guilty and was reprimanded and discharged)

4. Failure to wear a safety helmet (to which he pleaded guilty and was fined $15,000 or two  months’ imprisonment.
