Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers yesterday conducted an intelligence-led operation in Providence, East Bank Demerara and arrested a Canal No.2 man after finding 25 lbs of cocaine.
Khaled Alberto Perez, 33, of Mon Desir, Canal No.2, West Bank Demerara, was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic. The narcotic tested positive for cocaine with a total weight of approximately 25 lbs. (11.5 kgs) with a street value of approximately $12, CANU said.
CANU said that during the operation they intercepted a route 31 mini-bus bearing registration number BLL 179. A subsequent search of the mini-bus which only had one occupant at the time, led to the discovery of ten brick-like parcels with the cocaine.
