Two die in Friendship accident

The police say that two persons died today in an accident at Friendship, East Bank Demerara at 8.30 am involving a minibus and two cars.

The deceased are the driver of the bus, Keon Chandos Edwards and a passenger, Alvin Jones. A number of other persons were injured.

The police say that enquiries disclosed that the mini bus was proceeding north along the western side of the Friendship Public Road, EBD, at a fast rate. The driver overtook a line of traffic, swerved west into the western lane and collided with motor car PAD 3102, pushing it into the rear of motor car PXX 5169 and further collided with the front right bumper of motor car PXX 5169. As a result of the collision the mini bus lost control and turned over several times and passengers were flung out of it before it came to a stop on the western parapet of the road facing west with extensive damage. Edwards and Jones were pronounced dead at the scene. The injured were picked  and taken to the Diamond Hospital.
