LA Ballers, High Flyers, and MS Ballers recorded contrasting wins when the inaugural ‘One Guyana’ King and Queen Beach Football Championship commenced on Friday evening at the PPP office compound, Mackenzie, Linden.
Tournament favourite LA Ballers downed Hururu 2-1. Tyric McAllister and Mickel Jeffers recorded one conversion, respectively. For the loser, Delon France found the back of the net.
High Flyers soared over Goal is Money 4-2. Devonte Tappin led the victor with a brace, while Ryan Arthur and Keon Sears netted one goal, respectively. For the loser, Shane Luckie tallied two conversions.
On the other hand, the MS Ballers crushed the UDR Victors by a 5-1 score. Jamal Peters bagged a brace in the rout, while the trio of Tyreek Fraser, Shawn Arthur, and Jude Bouyer scored one goal each. On target in the loss was Jamal White.
Also, Fearless and Universal Ballers plated to a 1-1 stalemate. Deon Barleaye netted for the Universal Ballers, while Norlan Moses was on target for Fearless.
The event will feature approximately 52 male teams and 12 female teams. The other playing nights are: 13th, 15th, 16th, 20th, 22nd, 26th, and 29th, with the final slated for January 6th, 2024.
According to the release, the event is an initiative of President Irfaan Ali, who is focused on assisting in the development of football in the region. In excess of three million dollars in prizes will be awarded to the top four finishers.
