The Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Under-15 Inter-Association 50-Over competition continued yesterday at the Farm Ground on the East Bank of Demerara and saw a horrible display of batting from the East Bank team, who crumbled for just 22 under 13 overs.
Left-arm orthodox spinner Brandon Henry bamboozled and confounded the East Bank top order to capture 5/5 from 6 overs, inclusive of two maidens. Reyaz Latif, the right-arm leg spinner, finished off the tail with a helmet-trick (4 wickets straight) in his third over to finish with 4/4 from 2.4 overs.
In response, GCA reached their target in 4.1 overs, with Shamar Apple the only casualty. Shane Shivbarran (13 not out) and Ravin Singh (10 not out) closed off the chase without further ado.
The game, which started at 9am, was done so early that the two sides played a further practice match, which East Bank again lost.
The tournament continues today with East Bank hosting Upper Demerara, while East Coast will host West Demerara at Lusignan.
