Guyanese basketball player suffers fourth consecutive collegiate loss

Guyanese national basketball player Israel Yaw incurred another loss for the season as the University of Maryland went down to hosts NC State 61-93 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In 11 minutes of play, the former Plaisance Guardians standout failed to score and only contributed one steal.

It was his fourth consecutive loss, as his team’s record plummets to 2-6. His team’s only wins to date occurred against the University of Pennsylvania and Cairn University, while he has also suffered defeats at the hands of Longwood University, Temple University, Notre Dame, Liberty, and East Carolina.

Yaw had previously attended ASA College and appeared in 22 matches. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during his junior-collegiate career.
