Biker, pillion rider die in truck collision at Diamond

Police are investigating the accident that claimed the lives of two men on the Diamond Access Road, East Bank Demerara on Thursday night.

The accident occurred at around 11.20 pm on Thursday on Diamond Access Road, East Bank Demerara and claimed the lives of motorcyclist, Ashton Mc  Curdy, and pillion rider, Mark Green.

It involved lorry – GAF 2356 – owned by Michael Monroe, a 28-year-old businessman of Diamond Housing Scheme and driven at the time by Hitram Basmattie, a 55-year-old truck driver from Timehri; and a motorcycle – CL9127 – owned by Trevor Hunte, a 48-year-old security guard of Grove Housing Scheme and ridden at the time by  Mc Curdy of Lot 243 Second Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara. The pillion rider was Green, a 31-year-old labourer of Lot 250 Nazarene Street, Grove Housing Scheme.
