The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) will bring the curtains down on a banner year with its flagship National Senior Championships tomorrow at the Saint Stanislaus College auditorium.
The annual year-end event which was postponed from last Sunday in keeping with the request for a national day of prayer in honour of the five servicemen who perished in the tragic helicopter crash, is set to attract 18 of the best local lifters.
Among them will be World Sub-Junior Squat champion, Romeo Hunter, Yogaishawar ‘Baby Hulk’ Seecharan along with standout females, Talicia Lindore and Kezia Joseph.
According to organizers, a fierce day of rivalry is anticipated among the strongmen and women.
Lift-off time tomorrow is 09:00hrs.
The athletes will no doubt be eager to cap the year on a high note which will set the stage for fierce competition in the various categories. There will be equipped and raw (unequipped) lifting in the 59kg, 66kg, 74kg, 83kg, 84+kg, 93kg, 105kg, 120kg and 120+kg categories.

Earlier in 2023, the GAPLF and its athletes has competed with distinction at three World Championships as well as the FESUPO Championships. The Federation also hosted the Novice, Intermediate, Masters, and Raw competitions.
