In a solemn ceremony, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) bid a final farewell to Warrant Officer Class Two Jason Khan on Friday. Family, friends, and loved ones, including those who knew him as a talented basketball player, gathered at Burnham Court to pay tribute to him. Chief of Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan presented the national flag, which draped WO2 Khan’s casket, to his grieving widow and one to his eldest daughter. Warrant Officer Class Two Khan gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to his country, leaving an indelible mark on the nation. Here his casket is being borne by ranks of the GDF. (GDF photo)
In this GDF photo, this mourner says a final goodbye to Lieutenant Colonel Sean Welcome. He was laid to rest at Le Repentir Cemetery on Friday. Commandant of the Guyana National Reserve, Colonel Lloyd Souvenir expressed the nation’s gratitude by presenting the national flag, which draped Lieutenant Colonel Welcome’s casket, to his grieving widow. As the 21 Gun Salute echoed, the Officers and Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force paid their final compliments.
