St. Benedict, St. Ignatius secure wins in KFC Football Championship

St. Benedict College and St. Ignatius recorded comfortable wins as the group campaign in the KFC Goodwill U18 Football Championship concluded yesterday at the Queen’s College ground, Thomas Lands.

St. Ignatius downed Bartica 4-2. Stephon Sprosta, Sharukh Nedd, Ruel Aldie, and Glenn Fredericks scored in the 31st, 42nd, 59th, and 69th minutes, respectively. For the losers, Reizer Reid and Arvel Smith netted in the 20th and 35th minutes, respectively.

Similarly, St. Benedict College brushed aside Carmel 3-0. Malachai Webb engineered the win with a hat-trick in the 12th, 38th, and 50th minutes.

Meanwhile, Pacaraima Golden Suites, a hotel located in Lethem, Region 9, has thrown their support behind the tournament. Their support, while general in nature, encompasses logistical arrangements with the St. Ignatius team.
