After a hiatus due to COVID-19, Empire Media Inc said that its Armageddon Sound Clash will return with a bang on January 27th and will see some $1 million up for grabs. Three foreign sounds will be part of the sound off at the Providence National Stadium.
At the December 10th launch it was announced that three local sound systems will also be in the mix, facing off for that million-dollar prize, a trophy and bragging rights of the best musical sound. The reigning champion, Deejay Magnum from Notorious Sounds, along with Jimmy Slaughter from Firehouse International and David Hype of Warriors Choice Sounds were at their best.
In a press release, Empire stated that over the years the clash aimed “to promote and sustain the craft of sound clash while promoting and recognising the talent of deejays across Guyana”. Patrons are encouraged to come out in their numbers to represent their favorite Deejays as they prepare to exhibit their talent on the big stage.
Empire noted that in 2020 they brought a foreign sound out of Africa who left an everlasting impression with his unique craft which gained him new fans in Guyana. “In 2024, we have locked in Kanabis Sound out of Antigua, Artical Pride of Japan and for the first time a foreign female Deejay… known as Diamond Sunshine of Kosmik Movement from the USA,” will grace the stage, it was announced. They will be joined by local systems Notorious International, FireHouse International Sound and Warriors Choice, a newcomer to the arena.
Next month’s clash is billed to be the biggest since the company opened the door in 2017.
“We would like to thank our current sponsors who are backing EMI in making this event a success thus far which includes: the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kabisa and Coles Printing,” the release said.
“We encourage fans to keep it locked and follow the Armageddon train, look out for our Armageddon Promo ladies for chances to win tickets at our upcoming bar promotions across Guyana. Feel free to also follow our Empire Media Inc page for pop up promotions and updates on the clash.”
Tickets will soon go on sale and the early bird tickets will cost $2,000.
