A New and United Guyana (ANUG) is expected to announce its new parliamentary representative soon, according to a member of the party.
The opposition party, in a press release on Decem-ber 9 announced its newly elected executive team comprising: Chairperson Kian Jabour, General Secretary Timothy Jonas, Assistant General Secre-tary Javeed Ally, Treasurer Stephen Paterson, Orga-nizing Secretary Jonathan Subrian and Committee Members Mohamed Esa Shaheed, Althia King, Jarvis Charles, Joel Ramesh, Darian Yaw, Laura Singh, Joshua Pillay, Kurt Anderson, Mary-Ann Correia, and Niall Stanton.
In a statement, ANUG said it recognizes the urgency of addressing the concerns of the Guyanese people during this critical period. “The executive team is committed to facilitating open and honest communication to dispel any propaganda or inaccurate information that may contribute to fear and uncertainty among the citizens,” the party said.
ANUG added that it is committed to working collaboratively with the current government, as well as other opposition parties to ensure the well-being and security of all Guyanese citizens.
ANUG says as it prepares to take up its parliamentary seat, as part of the joinder agreement, “we are committed to ensuring that all voices are heard and represented to ensure transparency and collaboration.”
Leader of The New Movement (TNM) Dr Asha Kissoon back in April of this year was sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the first rotation for the three-group joinder list.
Kissoon took the oath and sat on the opposition benches. She is currently the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
At the 2020 general elections, TNM had entered a joinder list with the Liberty and Justice Party (LJP) and ANUG.
They managed to win one seat and the first two and a half years saw LJP Leader Lenox Shuman occupying the seat. Shuman was also elected Deputy Speaker of the House.
