As long-standing Berbice Cricket Board stalwart Hilbert Foster officially stepped back from cricket administration duties yesterday after six years, a new leader emerged in Dr. Cecil Beharry, who defeated Albert Smith by 18 votes to 14 to become the new BCB President.
Beharry, who was the BCB’s treasurer under Foster, will now look to take on the mantle of carrying out the BCB’s plans as they work towards the sustained development of cricket in the county of Berbice.
Foster and his team of executives, while in office, focused heavily on development, regular cricket tournaments, and developmental programmes during his tenure.
Beharry will have long-standing BCB executive David Black as his deputy, along with Junior Blair and Quails Winter. At the AGM, Ryan Algu was named new BCB Secretary with Ameer Rahaman as his assistant secretary, while Beharry’s former treasurer’s role was handed over to Rovin Bahadur with Devindra Ramdihal as his assistant.
The newly elected BCB executives are: Ceil Beharry, President; David Black, Vice President; Junior Blair, Vice President; Quails Winter, Vice President; Ryan Algu, Secretary; Ameer Rahaman, Assistant Secretary; Rovin Bahadur, Treasurer; and Devindra Ramdihal, Assistant Secretary.
