The Ministry of Labour says it has begun investigations into the recent workplace fatal accident which occurred at Buck Hall, Aurora, Region Seven.
The Ministry says its Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department is currently investigating the incident which occurred, around 5 pm on Monday, December 18th 2023, and claimed the life of 31-year-old truck driver, Tyron Anthony of Lot 126 Supenaam, Essequibo Coast. He died after the fuel truck he was driving toppled on a hill in the vicinity Aurora Gold Mines’ (AGM) Buck Hall location, resulting in a fatal accident.
A release from the ministry said that Anthony was an employee of Demerara Transportation Logistics that was contracted to transport fuel for the AGM operation in Region Seven.
Following a report received from AGM, Naipaul Persaud, Occupational Safety and Health Officer with responsibility for Region Seven was assigned to conduct this investigation to determine the causes of the accident and to provide the company with recommendations to prevent future recurrences.
