Retired Four Star US General Wesley K. Clark yesterday met with President Irfaan Ali and Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Omar Khan at State House. Sources told Stabroek News that Clark is on a private visit at the invitation of President Ali.
A brief statement from the Office of the President said that discussions focused on hemispheric security and geopolitical relations within the western hemisphere. Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo was also at the meeting.
Clark serves as the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Wesley K. Clark & Associates, a strategic consulting firm, chairman and founder of Enverra, Inc. a licensed investment bank and chairman of Energy Security Partners. Clark is said to be active in energy, including oil and gas, biofuels, electric power and batteries, finance, and security. Clark retired as a four star general after thirty eight years in the United States Army. In his final assignment as supreme allied commander, Europe, he led NATO forces to victory in Operation Allied Force, a 78-day air campaign against Serbia to protect Albanians from ethnic cleansing.
