Road construction worker dies after struck by NIS vehicle at Montrose

Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred at about 10.05  on Monday night on the Montrose public road, East Coast Demerara, which resulted in the death of a worker who was part of a road crew.

The victim has been identified as Daniel McCalmon, a 29-year-old construction worker of West La Penitence, Georgetown.

The accident involved a pickup, PAD 1720, owned by the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and driven by a 44-year-old of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway; another pickup, GMM 8060, owned and driven by an 80-year-old of Dasrath Street, Triumph Village, East Coast Deme-rara; and worker Daniel McCalmon, now deceased.
