Canal #2 thrash West Dem Legends in ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket Championship

Canal #2 Sports Club crushed West Demerara Legends by 204 runs when the ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket Championship continued on Sunday at the Canal #2 Sports Club ground.

Batting first, the home side was dismissed for 271, with Narendra Persaud leading the way with a 126. Adding 40 and 36 runs each were Vishwanauth Jadunath and Yogendra Singh. Bowling for the Legends side, Avinash Shardandan recorded 5-38, with Imtiaz Sadik tallying 2-46.

In response, West Demerara Legends were bundled out for 67, as Joshua Rahaman registered 5-11, while Emmanuel Martin added 3-3. Tikoo Safeek and Chris Mangal were the only batsmen to reach double figures with 19 and 12 runs apiece.

On Sunday, December 10th, at the Belle Vue Ground, the hosts defeated All Youths by 139 runs. Batting first, Belle Vue amassed 241. Lucian Sam top scored with 66 runs, while Devon Harris added 25 runs. Anthony Carrington was the main threat for the visitors, with figures of 2–27. In response, all youths were skittled for 102. H. Persaud top-scored with 28 runs. Bowling for Belle Venue, Joshua Loknauth tallied 2-10, while Randy Ramrup supported with 2-16.

Over at the Canal #2 Sports Club ground, VNS Cricket Club mauled West Demerara Legends by 231 runs. Batting first, VNS recorded 274-9, with Michael Subadar, Aditya Kadarnauuth, and Mohan Chaitram scoring 99, 88, and 37 runs, respectively.

Chris Mangal was the pick of the bowlers for the Legends outfit with 4-18. In reply, the Legends side were dismissed for a paltry 43, with Ravindra Ramnarine the only scorer in double figures with 14 runs. Aditya Kadarnauuth engineered the batting collapse with figures of 6–13.

Meanwhile, at Goed Fortuin Ground, La Grange defeated the home side by 90 runs. Batting first, La Grange was bowled out for 213. Naresh Persaud and Tyron Carrington were the primary scorers, with 61 and 45 runs apiece. Jamain Ramroop snared 3-28 with the ball. In reply, the hosts were dismissed for 123, with K. Famery scoring 37 runs. Christopher Gurdyal was the pick of the bowlers, with figures of 2-23. The tournament, which continues on Saturday, falls under the jurisdiction of the West Demerara Cricket Association.
