President Irfaan Ali on Tuesday accepted the Letters of Credence from the High Commissioner of Belize to Guyana, Gale Miller-Garnett at the Office of the President.
During the meeting, the President underscored that Guyana and Belize are currently enjoying their best relationship, according to a release from the Office of the President. This relationship, the President said, has birthed a number of initiatives that are aimed at bringing development and prosperity to both countries.
The release said that Ali also thanked Belize for their “forthright and strong principled stance” and statement on the Venezuela-Guyana border controversy.
Discussions also surrounded collaboration in agriculture, tourism, climate, energy and food security.
