The Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) yesterday said that travel time on the MV Sabanto is back to the original 90 minutes as a result of the vessel operating on both engines.
For weeks, the vessel was unfortunately operating on one engine which resulted in a lengthier travel time on the Parika-Essequibo route.
“As a result of diligent work over the past several weeks, the affected engine was fixed, and travelers will once again experience a shorter travel time”, the T&HD said in a release.
T&HD assured the public that their interest is of paramount importance to the agency, and it will continue to work towards the provision of a better quality of service.
The Department also said that vehicle and passenger capacity on the Parika to Supenaam route has been boosted.
“Therefore, the public is assured of efficient and reliable ferry services during the Christmas season and in the New Year”, the release said.
