Ramy El-Batrawi, the prospective purchaser of the Guyana Marriott hotel, in an interview with Stabroek News says that he has other plans in store as it relates to development and this country’s evolving economy.
The businessman has his eyes set on making affordable and sustainable housing a dream come true for Guyanese with pre-fabricated homes that are hurricane and earthquake proof.
He hopes to be able to set up a processing plant in Guyana and work alongside the Ministry of Housing and the President to make it a reality.
The projected cost of the proposed houses is US$30,000 and they are expected to come fully equipped with appliances. The factory will be able to construct buildings up to 11 stories high and all materials are expected to be sourced from around the region.
Aiding in this development for homeownership is a goal that El-Batrawi wants to help Guyanese achieve and he wants to collaborate with President Ali and his administration to make that dream a
reality for the betterment of the Guyanese people.
El Batrawi spoke of his high regard for President Irfaan Ali, “Ali is really solid and he managed to do things and he has gained his respect around the world from various world leaders.”
The entrepreneur also commended the housing ministry for its efforts in allocating more house lots to the citizens and applauded both the president and the Minister of Housing Collin Croal for their handling of the housing drive.
El-Batrawi is expected to visit Guyana early next year. His US$90m bid for the Marriott Hotel is still under consideration and he has expressed concerns about the length of time it is taking.
