Sparta Boss, Bent Street, Soesdyke Warriors, and Touches earned berths to the quarterfinal round when the inaugural ‘Million Dollar Baby’ street-ball championship continued on Monday evening at the Soesdyke Junction Tarmac.
Sparta boss defeated the Stabroek Ballers 1-0 on penalty kicks after regulation ended scoreless. On the other hand, Bent Street downed Festival City 1-0. Meanwhile, Touches defeated Club 45 by a 4-1 score. Also, the Soesdyke Warriors mauled Seaside 4-1. In other results, Back Circle edged North East La Penitence 1-0, while Linden All-Stars squeaked past Airport A 1-0.
The teams will play for a winner’s purse of $700,000, with the runners-up receiving $200,000, third place $150,000, and fourth place $50,000. The tournament resumes today at the same venue, with the final pencilled for tomorrow.
