Police are investigating a fatal accident involving two motorcyclists on Tuesday around 22:00 on the Maria’s Pleasure public road, Wakenaam Island, Region Three that resulted in the death of one motorcyclist and the other being admitted to the West Demerara Regional [WDR] Hospital. Dead is Rickey Boodram of Maria’s Pleasure, who was driving motorcycle CK 6068 while Martin Adams, a 57-year-old Labourer of Zeelandia, Wakenaam Island was the other motorcyclist, a police report stated.
According to the report, residents in the area heard a loud sound which drew them to the roadway, where they observed two motorcycles, both with extensive damages, lying on the side of the road. Also, two men were observed lying on the grass parapet, both in unconscious state, and with injuries about their bodies. The Police were summoned to the scene, and with assistance from public-spirited citizens, the two men were transported in a police pickup to the Wakenaam Cottage Hospital where Boodram was pronounced dead on arrival. Adams was treated and transferred to the WDR Hospital where he was further examined and admitted a patient suffering from a fractured left foot and head injuries.
The body of Boodram is currently at the Wakenaam Cottage Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.
