US Ambassador Theriot met with Mahendra Phagwah, a community leader and alumnus of the U.S. government’s 2023 Community Solutions Program (CSP). Phagwah is currently a coordinator for the Ministry of Education’s breakfast program.
A press release from the US Embassy said that the CSP program has enhanced Phagwah’s leadership and technical expertise and has strengthened his current work through his implementation of community programs that will benefit all Guyanese. The embassy release said that between August and November, Phagwah completed his practicum in Portland Oregon, working alongside Growing Gardens, a U.S. nonprofit organization with a mandate to cultivate healthy and equitable communities through education and gardening programs. Ambassador Theriot congratulated Phagwah on completing his fellowship and encouraged him to share his knowledge with his peers. Since 2010, CSP has supported 832 fellows from 89 countries in becoming more effective leaders.
