Xi urges Chinese envoys to create ‘diplomatic iron army’

BEIJING, (Reuters) – Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday urged Chinese ambassadors to forge a “diplomatic iron army” loyal to the Communist Party, reviving the abrasive “Wolf Warrior” rhetoric propagated by some diplomats as a sign of China’s increasingly assertive foreign policy.

Lawmen, Cougars to clash in 8-a-side football final 

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Cougars will battle in the final of the Candy Boss and Antics GT Beer 8-a-side Football Championship following contrasting semifinal wins on Thursday evening at the All Saints Scott Church ground, Princess Elizabeth Road, in New Amsterdam, Berbice.  The lawmen arrested Dynamic 5-0.

Man charged with knife-point robbery on Hadfield St

Twenty-one-year-old Samuel Archibald appeared before Magistrate Delon Bess at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday where he was charged with armed robbery.  It is alleged that on December 24,  at Hadfield Street, Georgetown, while armed with a knife, he robbed Jitendra Jaikissoon of $110,000 and one Samsung A21s cellphone valued at $40,000.

Wortmanville man charged with assault

Charles Kurleigh Louis, 41, of Lot 39 Norton Street, Wortmanville Georgetown appeared yesterday before Magistrate Delon Bess at the George-town Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with assault.  It is alleged that on Friday December 15, Charles Kurleigh Louis assaulted Adel Amanda Persaud at Lot 39 Norton Street, Wortmanville.
