Welcome back to Main Street former British High Commissioner Greg Quinn who is coming in as locum HC whilst Jane Miller is away ‘on leave’. Greg was amongst a small group of diplomats who ‘saved’ democracy in Guyana during the attempted rigging of the General Election in 2020.
Kudos to him then.
Top of his inbox will be sorting out the imbroglio over HMS Trent’s visit to Guyana. This may prove to have been one gunboat diplomacy step too far for Britain. It has upset the hornets’ nest to the west unnecessarily.
If anyone can diplomatically calm nerves over the border stushi, then surely Greg can.
