DC Ballers and Hururu advanced to the semi-final and quarterfinal rounds, respectively, in the men and women segments, when the ‘One Guyana’ Kings and Queens Beach Football Championship continued yesterday at the PPP office compound in Mackenzie, Linden.
In a playoff encounter for the final berth to the quarterfinal segment in the women’s division, Hururu bested Rockstone 1-0 on penalty kicks after normal and extra time ended scoreless. Naloni Fredericks recorded the only conversion during the penalty shoot-out.
Meanwhile, the DC Ballers earned their place in the semi-final section of the men’s division, defeating the Pro Ballers by a 1-0 score. Kendolph Lewis recorded the only conversion of the contest in the 29th minute of the second stanza.
Up to press time, several other matches in the men’s segment were underway.
