Rising Stars and Beacons will face off in the Bartica Football Association (BFA) Yearend Knockout Championship final, following contrasting semi-final wins on Friday evening at the Community Centre ground.
The Rising Stars blanked Wolves United 5-0. Two goals in the first half effectively sealed the win for the Rising Stars. Ashton Dutchin commenced the rout with a 28th-minute conversion. Ian Gomes then made his presence felt, opening his account via a 38th-minute effort.
Upon the resumption of play in the second stanza, Gomes sealed his brace, as he found the back of the net in the 48th minute to make it 3-0. Ezekiel Baldeo then got into the scoring act, as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 58th minute.
The result was then sealed in the 71st minute, as Marcus McKenzie made his presence felt. Meanwhile, the Beacons defeated fierce rival Rivers View 1-0. Kurt Welcome recorded the only conversion of the match via a 45th-minute strike.
The aforesaid winners will now face off at the same venue tomorrow for the title, while the resulting losers will match skills in the third-place playoff.
