Dear Editor,
As most people are painfully aware, there seems to be a daily occurrence where our women are assaulted, or killed in the most horrific and inhumane way.
These women are our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts and neighbours. These crimes sear into our conscience and affect our souls. It is difficult to comprehend how these atrocities might be affecting the children and loved ones of these women. It seems like we are losing our basic humanity, with every senseless murder.
But, many Guyanese are surprised that in the face of this brutal assault on their kind…..our women folk are stunningly silent!
Surely, many of them, like most of us, have to recoil in horror at these senseless and barbaric acts. Please female judges, police, leaders and government Ministers – raise your voices in alarm, and condemnation against this cruel assault on your female brethren.
The life you save tomorrow, may be your own.
Thank you,
Chitrakha Persaud
