Debutant Strikers FC of Massara Village won the Climb Guyana Cup, defeating Falcons by a 1-0 score on December 24th at the Aranaputa Sports Ground, North Rupununi.
Strikers, who defeated Surama/Wowetta on December 23rd and Basin FC in the second round, walked away with $100,000, medals, and the championship trophy for their efforts. Also, Denzell Moses, the eventual champion, secured the Most Valuable Player award.
On the other hand, the Falcons, who defeated the Challengers and Spartans to earn their place in the final, walked away with $75,000 and the corresponding accolade. Meanwhile, the Spartans downed hosts FC Basin 3-1 in the third-place playoff to pocket $50,000 and the respective trophy.
Rondella Benjamin of the Spartans pocketed the Highest Goal Scorer award with five conversions.
According to an official release from the organisers, the 2024 edition will feature a female tournament.
