Milerock captured the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Futsal Championship, dismantling Capital FC 7-3 on Monday evening at the Retrieve Tarmac, Linden.
Eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee Colwin Drakes led the way for the victory with a hat-trick. He was supported by Marcus Tudor, who recorded a brace. Chipping in with one goal each were Allan Haley and Rawle Gittens.
For the loser, the combination of Emmanuel Atkins, Andre Mayers, and Tyric McAllister netted one goal apiece. With the result, Milerock walked away with $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while Capital FC pocketed $500,000 and the corresponding accolade. Also, on the individual side, Neil Kennedy of Milerock also won the Best Goalkeeper title.
In the earlier third-place playoff, Winners Connection squeaked past Botofago 9-7. Nicholas Gentle recorded six conversions, while the trio of Reynard Caesar, Kieron McPherson, and Akeem Caesar netted one goal each.
For the loser, Omar Brewley and Antwoine Gill recorded two goals each, while Duquan Hercules, Jayshawn Moore, and an own goal added to the score. Due to the win, Winners Connection received $200,000 and a trophy. On the other side, Botofago received a trophy.
