(Trinidad Express) Two men were shot dead and three others injured during an attack in front the Tunapuna Market, along the Eastern Main Road, last night.
The incident took place around 8 p.m.
The five, one of them a woman, were at the market when gunmen opened fire on them.
The shooters then fled the scene, running towards the Monte Grande community.
Officers from the Tunapuna Police Station and Homicide Bureau responded.
When they arrived, two of the victims had already died.
Up to 9 p.m., they had not yet been identified.
The injured were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, for treatment.
The murder toll for 2024 stood at nine last night compared to six on the same date in 2023.
