Speightland and DC Ballers secured their berths to the final in the women’s and men’s divisions respectively, when the ‘One Guyana’ King and Queen Beach Football Championship continued yesterday at the PPP office compound in Mackenzie, Linden.
Speightland downed Hururu 3-1 in the first semi-final of the women’s division to punch their ticket to the final. Nikita Wayne broke the deadlock for Speightland with a second-minute conversion. Christina Paul then doubled their lead, as she found the back of the net in the ninth minute. The fixture was effectively sealed as Wayne further increased her side’s lead, completing her double in the 17th minute.
On the other side, Nikisha Persaud recorded a consolation goal in the 20th minute. In the men’s semi-final segment, the DC Ballers squeaked past YMCA by a 2-1 score-line to earn their berth to the final. A Kendolph Lewis double secured the hard-fought outcome.
