“I am just happy that I have made it to 2024. It is not like 2023 was a bad year or anything but to see a New Year is a good thing,” the words of an acquaintance whom I asked what it means to see a new year.
Any resolutions? I asked.
“Well not really. Look, I am not into them things anymore. But what I would say, if I can do one thing better than I did last year it would be good for me. I want to first of all be a better child of God and then a better wife and mother in some way. I am not perfect so I know I can do things better. I want to take better care of me too, but it is not that I have set out anything, it is just a little by little,” she answered.
“This year I want to do something I have been putting off for a long time and that is continuing my studies. In the past I questioned the reason behind this but I now reason that I cannot lose anything if I study some more. It will cost some but it will keep the grey matter going. Sometimes as women I think we just give up after a certain age and I don’t want that to be me,” another sister told me.
