Lloyd Daniels, a 44-year-old miner of One Mile Itaballi, Region #7, was yesterday charged with the murder of fellow miner Jimmy Ashby.
The police say that he was arrested in Regional Division #7 and made his court appearance yesterday at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Crystal Lambert where he was charged with murder.
He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to the February 6th, 2024 for continuation.
The murder was committed sometime between the 2nd and 3rd of January, 2024 at Falls Top, Arimu Backdam, in Region #7.
The motionless body of Ashby, a 58-year-old miner of Barima River, North West District, was found in a sitting position on a wooden bench. A single stab wound was seen in the centre of his upper chest, measuring about two inches in length and three inches in depth. Daniels is accused of inflicting the fatal stab wound.
